On this page you find the features of the LSI search engine explained. By understanding how the engine works you'll know better how to use it and get your results easier and faster.

Search fields
To search through the LSI music archive, the LSI search engine offers two methods, the lyrics-search and the title-search.

The lyrics-search searches through the lyrics words. You can use this option if you have a snippet of song-lyrics stuck in your head for which you would like to know what song and artist this is by.

For searching on titles, you can use the artist-, song-, album- or movie- search. To search simultaneously on multiply fields, use the (default) 'all music' option.

Search string
When searching on the all music field, you can narrow down the search results by entering a combination of different search conditions. For example, the search engine accepts a combination of artist- and song name in one search request, or movie- and soundtrack name : Justin Timberlake - Cry Me A River or Titanic - My Heart Will Go On.

Score
Each search result has a score which is based on how close it matches to your search string and its LSI Rank. The scores are presented as percentage relative to the best matching result, which is set as 100%.

Partial search string
The LSI search engine accepts partial search terms. For example when looking for Britney Spears you can search on Britney, Spears, Brit or even Br.

Exact search
To narrow the search results you can enclose your search terms in double quotes ("). This will make the search engine look for a more exact match. For example mad will bring you everything that sounds like mad, including Madonna, while "mad" only brings you everything with Mad in it.

Filter
When searching on the archive field, the search engine searches through artist-, album-, song-, soundtrack- and movie titels. To narrow down the search results, a filter is presented which allows you to restrict the search results to artists, movies, songs and/or albums only.

Capitalization
The LSI search is case insensitive. For example, looking for Madonna, madonna or madoNNA all give the same results.

Autocomplete
While entering your search terms, LSI predicts on-the-fly what you want to type. The best matching results popup in just a fraction of a second in a box which you can select with your mouse or the arrow-keys. This so called autocomplete is enabled for the archive search

Spell checker
The LSI search engine has an active spell checker. Whether you accidentally hit a wrong letter on you keyboard or mistype the searchterm because you don't know the exact writing, in most cases the active spell checked corrects this on-the-fly and brings you the right results anyway. For example a mistyped letter as in Christina Aguiilera, or a wrong spelling as in Christina Agulera gives you results as if you typed it correctly as Christina Aguilera.
